The Mi'kmaq Map
The Mi'kmaqs stretched over 10000 km along the east coast of the Gulf of St.Lawrence to the Atlantic Ocean. Fishes, flocks of grouse and passenger pigeons flourished in the area.
Atlantic and Gulf Region
About 35000 Mi'kmaq, Maliseet and Beothuk people lived in this area. There were plenty of coniferous and deciduous trees such as birch, hemlock, pine, fir, maple, balsam, and spruce. Wetlands, bogs and muskegs flourish in this area. Since much of the area is surrounded with fish and seabirds, the Mi'kmaqs adapted to theese environments. They hunted the food they could find in this geographical area. The Mi'kmaq was divided into seven districts but then later, it was divided into eight.
